Founders: Veteran immigrant educators and social service professionals such as teachers, educational counselors, psychologists, social workers, etc. that immigrated to Israel in the 1990’s.
Mission: IAIC strives to achieve the equal integration of immigrant children, youth and young people into schools and into Israeli society, while providing them with the opportunity to voice their opinion regarding the character of this integration.
Immigrant children comprise approximately 11% of all Israeli children, yet they comprise 42% of all school dropouts. Over 30% of juvenile crime files are those of immigrant children, and 46% of youths that immigrated to Israel during the past 5 years do not finish high school. IAIC was created in order to bring the needs of immigrant children and youth to the attention of Israeli society, so that together we can work for solutions.
Target Audience: Immigrant children and youth, their parents, community workers that work with immigrant children and youth, decision makers on local and national levels.
Activity Areas:
Advocacy (Lobby): Representing the needs of immigrant children and youth to decision makers, empowerment of the immigrant community.
Information, Support Hotline & Advocacy Center for immigrant youth and children and their families: 1-800-358-203. The 6- language hotline provides callers with access to information regarding the rights and legal status of immigrant children as well as how they may implement these rights.
Community Projects: IAIC runs approximately 200 programs for immigrant children, youth and their families, that include: experiential and community projects, enrichment and prevention programs, academic enrichment, training and workshops for educators and social service professionals, and more.
International Projects: IAIC sponsors international student exchanges, and international seminars for professionals on a wide range of subjects.
Activity Area: IAIC’s activities take place throughout Israel in 63 locations.
