Public Activity
The Israel Association for Immigrant Children places urgent issues relating to immigrant children on the public agenda. Examples of some of these issues:
“Invisible Children”: children without legal status
Fourth generation children
Children who have one parent that has stayed abroad and not immigrated to Israel. As a result of our campaign, the requirement demanding a bond of guarantee for a visiting parent from abroad was cancelled.
Struggle against racism: IAIC cooperates with Arab NGOs and with NGOs defending the rights of minority children, and those of the children of foreign workers. IAIC advocates on behalf of individual cases that they encounter. For example, IAIC approached the Chair of the Knesset Education Committee regarding an event that occurred in the Johanna Jabotinsky school, where immigrant children were humiliated by being refused entry to the school because of the inability of their parents to pay school fees.
